The Trigg County baseball team put a five-game skid in the rearview mirror with a pair of victories at Trinity (Whitesville) on Saturday.  The Wildcats took the opener 9-0 behind a complete-game one-hitter for Joseph Peca and got four RBI each from Tyler Ahart and Aaron DeSpain to roll to a 17-7 six-inning win in the second.

Joseph Peca’s gem sent the Wildcats to victory in the opener, yielding a single hit with three walks and nine strikeouts.  He also had a hit and two RBI, with Andrew Williamson going 2/3 at the plate with 3 RBI.

Tyler Ahart and Kaiden McCormick each had a pair of hits, with Ahart adding three RBI.  Bryce Cunningham had a hit and a run driven in and Isaac Peca and Dallas Ahart each hit safely once.

Landon Huff took the loss for Trinity, lasting five innings and allowing three runs, one earned, on five hits with three walks and four strikeouts.  Gavin Howard pitched the 6th and 7th, yielding six runs, four earned, on five hits with a walk and a strikeout.

After four errors in the opener, Trigg County was guilty of five in the second game but wasn’t made to pay in a six-inning victory.  Dallas Ahart got the start for the Wildcats, working three and two thirds and allowing seven runs, with only one earned, on a pair of hits with three walks and four strikeouts.

A three-run 2nd inning, with Williamson and Tyler Ahart providing back-to-back RBI doubles, led to a 5-1 Trigg advantage.  Three walks and three errors in the bottom of the 4th allowed Trinity to post six runs and take a 7-5 lead, but the Wildcats answered with five runs in the top of the 5th to push in front for good.

DeSpain doubled in a pair of runs and Tyler Ahart and Cunningham added RBI singles for a 10-5 score.  Six-straight base hits to start the 6th fueled the Wildcats’ seven-run surge, with RBI singles by DeSpain and Isaac Peca and run-scoring doubles for Williamson and Tyler Ahart.

Trevor Terrell pitched the final two and a third, holding the Raiders scoreless with no hits and two walks, and two strikeouts.

Tyler Ahart was a force at the plate with five hits in five at-bats, driving in four runs.  Williamson had three hits and three RBI, DeSpain reached safely twice with four runs driven in, and Isaac Peca had three hits and two RBI.

Nathan Hernandez took the loss for the Raiders, allowing nine runs, eight earned, on seven hits with three walks in an inning of work.  Carter Crisp started and lasted two and two thirds, yielding five earned runs on seven hits with a pair of walks and three strikeouts.  Hayden Aull walked three and gave up a hit in one and a third, and Nolan Mills surrendered three runs, two earned, with four hits in an inning of work.

The Wildcats improve to 9-14 with a visit from Dawson Springs coming up on Monday.  Trinity drops its ninth in ten tries to slip to 4-18 overall.
