The Caldwell County softball team scored early and often in Tuesday night’s trip to University Heights, increasing its run output in each of three innings of a 20-0 victory over the Lady Blazers.

Shelby Lane had an RBI single in a three-run first before the onslaught began in the top of the second.  Majah Hollowell doubled in a run and AJ Hollowell followed with an RBI single, before back-to-back run-scoring singles for Harper Holeman and Brylee Butts.

Lane picked up her second RBI on a single and Majah Hollowell capped the rally she started with another double that pushed two runs across and gave the Lady Tigers an 11-0 lead.

In addition to RBI singles by Lainey Frisch, Illysa Stallins, and Kynady Thomas, the Lady Tigers took advantage of a walk, four errors, and a pair of hit by pitches to tack on nine more runs in the top of the third.

Caldwell starting pitcher Destany Cayce and Addie Cagle combined for a no-hitter, with the Lady Blazers’ only baserunner reaching on a walk.  The two combined for four strikeouts.

Mallory Ladd took the loss for UHA, pitching all three frames and yielding sixteen earned runs on fifteen hits with four walks.

Lane and Majah Hollowell each drove in three, with Butts knocking in a pair.  Lane also led the team with three hits, followed by AJ Hollowell, Holeman, Butts, and Majah Hollowell with three each.

After winning three of four, Caldwell will host Union County on Thursday.  The Lady Tigers won the first meeting 8-5 back on May 3.

The Lady Blazers finish the season at home, with Livingston Central visiting on Thursday and Hopkins County Central making the trip on Friday.
