5-26-zieg

Heritage Christian Academy’s bid for its first trip to the KCAA softball championship game in three years fell one run short Tuesday with a 12-11 loss to North Hardin Christian.

Despite losing to the Lady Falcons twice during the regular season, HCA jumped ahead with four runs in the first inning.  Chloe Ginn had a two-run hit to spark the inning.

However, North Hardin answered with five runs in the home half of the first. They were aided by three HCA errors.

A North Hardin error in the third allowed two more Heritage runs to score, pulling the Lady Warriors to within 7-6.

Trailing 8-6 entering the fifth inning, HCA tied the game with two runs but had the go-ahead run thrown out at the plate.

North Hardin scored four more times in the fifth to grab a 12-8 lead.  HCA scored once in the sixth and twice in the seventh to pull to within 12-11.  But North Hardin was able to get the final two outs to secure the win.

Kinley Deason is the lone senior for the Lady Warriors, who were the No. 3 seed entering the tournament.
