Caldwell County’s girls rallied from a 5-0 deficit to beat Union County 8-7 Thursday at Lady Tiger Field at the Ratliff Park Complex in Princeton.

The Lady Tigers are now 12-13 with one regular season game remaining — Friday at home against Trigg County.

Down 5-1 going to the bottom of the fifth on Thursday, Caldwell got its offense going in its final two at-bats.

The Lady Tigers scored four times in the bottom of the fifth to knot the score. Alicia Stanley’s two-out double to center scored two runs to make it a 5-5 game.

Caldwell then put three runs up in the bottom of the sixth — all with two outs. Allie Felker doubled home the first two runs of the frame give the Lady Tigers their first lead of the game at 7-5. Harper Holeman followed with an RBI single to push the margin to 8-5.

That last run proved crucial in the top of the seventh, when Union County scored twice to make it 8-7 then put its next two hitters on base.

However, Caldwell pitcher Illysa Stallins worked out of that jam, getting two fly balls to center and a pop up to third to end the contest.

Stallins was the winning pitcher, allowing five earned runs on 10 base hits. She struck out three and walked three.

Felker led the Lady Tiger offense, going 4-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and four runs batted in.

For Union, Jaylee Meadors homered with two outs in the top of the first inning to give the Bravettes an early 1-0 lead.

Jralee Roberson doubled home two runs as part of a four-run third that put Union up 5-0.

After falling behind 8-5, the Bravettes got close in the seventh on Leah Hunley’s two-run homer to center. Union then got both the tying and go-ahead runs on base, but left the potential tying run at third.

The Bravettes are now 17-13.

The Lady Tigers won at Union earlier this month 8-5.

Caldwell will finish the regular season by hosting Trigg County on Friday. The Lady Tigers won at Trigg 9-1 10 days ago.
