Colonels Take Ninth at Region Track Meet

Christian County finished ninth at the Class 3A Region 1 track and field meet Wednesday, but the Colonels will be sending people to next month’s state meet.

Joseph Alexander inched closer to Tim Wharton’s school record in the 100-meter dash.  The Colonel senior finished third in the race in a photo finish with Reece Carroll of Owensboro.  Both crossed the line in 11.14 seconds.  Henderson County’s Jaheim Alexander was .03 seconds faster to take first place.

Wharton set the CCHS record in the race in 11 seconds flat in 2005.

The 800-meter relay team qualified for the state meet with a second-place finish to Owensboro.  The Colonels edged Graves County by .08 seconds for the runner-up finish.

Cameo Gordon brought home a top-5 finish in the 200-meter run in 24.08. He was also sixth in the 400-meters in 53.55 seconds.

Also placing in the top-5 were Camden Britton with a fourth-place finish in the 1600-meter run and J.T. Adams, who finished fifth in the shot put.

As a team, the Colonels finished ninth with 24 points.  Owensboro took the region title.

Camden Britton – 4th in the 1600-meter run [4:51.61]; 9th in the 800-meter run [2:10.31]

J.T. Adams – 5th in the shot put [43-10]

Josiah Bridges – 9th in the 110-meter hurdles [19.72]; 10th in the long jump [18-05.50]

Cyrus Greenwade – 11th in the 400-meter run [56.49]

Xavien Henderson – 8th in the triple jump [35-01]; 11th in the long jump [17-04.50]

Jaiden Northington – 12th in the 800-meter run [2:11.89]

Dahzmeon Brown – 14th in the 100-meter run [12.24]

Christopher McCarley – 14th in the discus throw [87-07]

Keon Dillard – 16th in the 3200-meter run [12:47.77]

Michael Webb – 18th in the 1600-meter run [5:34.81]

 

The 400-meter relay team finished sixth in 47.20.

The 800-meter relay team finished sixth with a time of 47.20 seconds.

The 1600-meter relay team was eighth in 3:57.11
