Brody Williams Homers as Lyons Handle Henderson 15-5

Brody Williams hammered a two-run home run to center to erase a 1-0 deficit in the bottom of the first inning, and the Lyon County Lyons kept hitting on their way to a 15-5 win over Henderson County Friday night.

Christian O’Daniel was 2-for-3 and drove in five runs for the Lyons, who wrapped up the win in the battle of 2nd Region contenders in just five innings.

The Lyons finish the regular season 23-7 while the Colonels are now 18-14.

Lyon countered Henderson’s early run with three in the bottom of the first.

The Colonels battled back to tie things 3-3 in the top of the second, but the Lyons responded with five runs in the bottom of the frame. Jackson Shoulders drove in two runs with a single during the big inning.

Henderson got back to within 8-5 in the top of the third, but Lyon answered with two runs in the fourth, then five runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game on the 10-run mercy rule. O’Daniel singled home two runs in the fifth.

Williams finished 2-for-4 at the plate for the Lyons while Aidan Rush and Corey Cissell each went 2-for-3.

Lyon finished with 12 base hits and was also given eight free passes.

Daniel Gardner was 2-for-2 with two RBIs for Henderson, which was limited to six base hits in the contest.

Beau Wilson started on the mound and picked up the win for the Lyons. He got relief help from eighth grader Austin Spears.

The Lyons will host the 5th District tournament starting Monday at Jim Boyd Field in Eddyville.
