Just weeks removed from a 2nd Region championship and two years removed from an All A state championship, Grant Shouse has announced that he is stepping down as the head basketball coach at University Heights Academy. Shouse steps away from the job after nine years leading the Blazers. The move also affect his status as Athletic Director at UHA.

Shouse took over as head boys’ coach at UHA for the 2012-2013 season. During his tenure with the Blazers his teams went 145-115, including 83-37 over the past four seasons.

Shouse’s teams won the 2018 and 2021 2nd Region championships.

The 2018-2019 Blazers won the All A Classic state championship. During Shouse’s time at UHA, the Blazers won eight of the nine All A Classic 2nd region titles.

In a statement released Friday, Shouse said “I am also proud of all the accomplishments of Blazer Basketball on and off the court over the last 9 seasons. The state of the program is in a strong position for continued success. I am even more grateful though, to have been blessed with the relationships, loyalty, and memories made and shared with my family, players, parents, and coaches. I can only hope they all value and appreciate those as much as I do. Nothing or no one can change, diminish, or take those away.”

He added “I do appreciate the opportunity to return to my Alma Mater and head the Boys Basketball program. It was an honor and a privilege to lead such a tradition rich program. To all the young men that put on the Green and Gold with us – Thank you! We represented Blazer Basketball and University Heights the right way and made all of Blazer Nation proud!”
