Caldwell County had a day of personal bests and school records at the Class 2A State Track and Field Meet Friday on the campus of the University of Kentucky.

Blake Vivrette finished third in the high jump with a height of six feet. The mark equaled his season-best and was two inches behind T.J. Miller’s school record of 6-2 set at the 2009 state meet.

The 800-meter relay team of Giovantie Riley, Ethan Weatherspoon, Baron Wells, and Blake Vivrette finished with a time of 1:33.02 which was good for eighth place. The school record is 1:32.35 set by the team last month at the region meet.

Riley and Weatherspoon returned to the medal stand along with Baron Wells and Elijah Shaheen to finish eighth in the 400-meter dash.  In fact, Caldwell County ran a 44.890 to finish just behind seventh-place Holmes, who crossed the line in 44.882 seconds.

Caldwell’s time established a school record in the event.

Baron Wells finished 12th in the 200-meter run in a clocking of 23.13 seconds.

Ethan Weatherspoon was 16th in the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.37 seconds. He just missed Javon Brown’s 2011 school record of 11.24 seconds.

Caldwell County’s eight points were good for 24th place in the team standings.
