Hoppers Pick Up 4th Straight With Win at Muhlenberg

The Hoptown Hoppers used a big 5th inning to take the lead and a big 8th inning to help close out their 8-2 win at Muhlenberg County Tuesday night. The win was the 4th in a row for the Hoppers.

Trailing 2-1, the Hoppers loaded the bases to begin the top of the fifth with a pair of singles and a hit batter. Jojo Cruz pushed across the first run of the inning with a fielder’s choice to tie the score at 2-2. N Montes connected for an RBI single to give the Hoppers a 3-2 lead. Cruz would then score on an error by the centerfielder.

The Hoppers capped off the big inning as Montes came across the plate on an RBI single from Z Brannigan, and the lead grew to 5-2.

Hoptown would then put the game away in the top of the eighth. The Hoppers would convert two walks and two Muhlenberg errors into three runs as they moved out to an 8-2 lead.

Trigg County grad Arlon Butts picked up the win for the Hoppers. In relief, he went three innings, giving up no runs on just one hit, striking out three and walking three.

Nico Montes had a big night at the plate, going 3-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. B.J. Banyon and Riley Garczysnki added two hits each for the Hoppers.
