Dalton Cameron had things going pretty much his way Friday night. The Muhlenberg County pitcher went eight solid innings and put the clamps on the Hoptown Hoppers offense as the Stallions picked up a 7-2 win at Christian County High School.

Cameron did not give the Hoppers many opportunities over his eight innings of work. He finished the night giving up one run, on six hits, striking out nine, while walking only one.

The only time the Hoppers were able to get to Cameron was in the bottom of the second. Zayd Branningan hit a one-out single, stole second base, and then advanced to third on an error. Branningan would score an out later when Kurt Paldino singled to right field to give the Hoppers a 1-0 lead. But, from that point on, the Hoppers just could not get a run across the plate against Cameron.

The Hoppers would manage to scratch out a run in the bottom of the 9th against Muhlenberg reliever Nathan McKissick but it was too little too late.

After falling behind in the bottom of the 2nd, the Stallions came right back to take the lead in the top of the third. Muhlenberg County used two hit batters, two singles, and a fielder’s choice to push two runs across and take a 2-1 lead.

The game stayed that way until the top of the seventh when the Stallions effectively put the game away by hanging a five-spot on the scoreboard. A two-run double and a bases-loaded triple were the big blows in the inning for Muhlenberg County.

B.J. Banyon let the Hoppers, going 2-4 with a double. Kurt Paldino was 1-3 with an RBI.

Jackson Lyons took the loss for the Hoppers, going six innings. He gave up two runs on five hits, striking out five while walking two.
