Cathryn Brown bagged a top-20 finish in the first American Junior Golf Association Tournament of her career Friday in Ashland.
The Lyon County junior won the qualifier tournament to get into the field for the Natural Resource Partners Bluegrass Junior presented by Encova Insurance that began play Wednesday at the Bellefonte Country Club.
After shooting a 10-over-par 80 in Wednesday’s first round, she shaved one stroke off that score Thursday for a 79.
Her best day came Friday when she shot a 6-over 76 that included a 1-over score of 37 on the back nine. Brown combined for two birdies in her first two rounds. She carded three of them in Friday’s round alone.
Brown finished tied for 20th at 25-over par for the three-day event along with Marshall County’s Savannah Howell.
