Several new additions have been made to the Caldwell County baseball record book, including a new career home run leader.

Tate VanHooser finished his career with 15 home runs. Second on the Caldwell list is Brandon Sigler, who had 10 homers from 2008-11.

VanHooser also owns the single-season home run record with the Tigers, hitting 10 as a sophomore in the 2019 season.

VanHooser is playing this summer with the Evansville Razorbacks 18U team before heading to Rend Lake College this fall.

VanHooser hit .488 this season to help Caldwell County go 13-13 and win its eighth 7th District title in the last nine seasons. That .488 average is the fifth-best ever for a Tiger.

Freshman Carter Whittington hit .508 this season and is third on the top batting average list for a single season.

VanHooser set another record this season when he became the first Tiger to record five base hits in one game in a 16-7 victory over Ballard Memorial.

VanHooser also owns the single-game runs batted in record with nine in Caldwell’s 17-7 win over Dawson Springs in the district tournament. In addition, VanHooser hit for the cycle in that game, the only Tiger cycle on record.

As a team, Caldwell recorded 20 base hits in that win over Dawson Springs, which is tied for the most hits ever by the Tigers in one game.

Caldwell also reached a program milestone in the 2021 season. The second win of the year, a 10-0 decision over Fort Campbell, was the 800th victory in school history. The Tigers now have an all-time record, according to available records, of 811-569-2
