Calista Collins is putting off her move up north for another year.

Collins will return to Lyon County High School for one more go-around, taking advantage of a Kentucky law that allows students the opportunity to “redo” the COVID-19 year.

The Lady Lyon standout has already signed to continue her softball career in the Big Ten Conference at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J.

But first, Collins will get a second senior year at Lyon County and another season with both the basketball and softball teams at the school.

Collins hit .475 with 14 home runs this spring while helping the Lady Lyons go 26-10 and win the All A Classic state softball championship.

In basketball, Collins reached one milestone last season and is poised to hit another this winter.

She recorded her 1,000th rebound late in the 2020-21 season. Collins will enter the 2021-22 season with 929 points as she looks to top 1,000 career points.

Collins averaged a double-double last season, getting 16.7 points and a state-leading 13.7 rebounds a night as the Lyon basketball team went 17-8.

Collins will bring more than just points and rebounds to Lady Lyon basketball this season. Look for her pregame music playlist — full of classic rock hits — to return as well!
