Getting a good look at the golf course that hosts the annual KHSAA State Tournament, Caldwell County’s Claire Knoth finished tied for sixth Monday at the Kentucky Junior PGA event at the Bowling Green Country Club.
Knoth got off to a rough start with double bogeys on three of her first six holes. She steadied the boat a bit with only one over her final 12 holes. Knoth had a solid finish with pars on four of her final five holes.
Knoth went out with a 45 and came in with a 42 to finish at 15-over.
Marshall County’s Elsie Riley also finished tied with Knoth in sixth place at 15-over par.
Shelby County’s Emily Allen, who has committed to the University of the Cumberlands, and McCracken County’s Madison Glisson tied for the lead at 6-over. A birdie on No. 14 gave Allen the scorecard playoff win over Glisson, who will be an eighth-grader this fall.
