A former UHA Blazer is among the qualifiers, while a former Hopkinsville Tiger is among the alternates for the Kentucky Open Championship coming up at the end of the month. UHA grad Jiles Wyatt and Hopkinsville grad James Folz were among those playing at the qualifying event Tuesday at the Bowling Green Country Club.

Wyatt shot a 3-under par 69 for his round Tuesday, which put him in third place and qualified him for the open. Wyatt used a hot stretch on the back nine to propel him to a big finish, as he shot 33 on the back side. He had a stretch of four holes where he shot birdie-birdie-par-eagle.

Folz ended up shooting a 3-over par 75. That put him in a three-way tie for 16th place. After a playoff, Folz is now the 2nd alternate for the open. Folz shot 1-under on the front nine, including four birdies in his first six holes.

The Kentucky Open Championship is July 27-29 at the Persimmon Ridge Golf Club in Louisville.

Wyatt and Folz have both signed to play collegiately at Centre College.
