Lyon County Post 68 Rallies for Split With Madisonville Post 6

Lyon County Post 68 scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to capture a 9-8 victory in game two and earn a split with Madisonville Post 6 in American Legion baseball action Tuesday night in Eddyville.

Madisonville took the opener 12-3 behind a six-run third inning. That erased an early 3-0 deficit.

Tanner Edwards, a Hopkins County Central product, went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and four runs batted in for Post 6 in the win.

Layton Stallons, a former Christian County standout who pitches for Brescia University, was the winning hurler for Madisonville, allowing three earned runs on three hits in five innings of work. He struck out eight and walked four.

Caldwell County product Deontaye Walls pitched two scoreless innings in relief of the game one win for the Madisonville squad.

In the second game, Lyon County trailed 4-1 in the fifth inning before scoring eight times over the final three innings to pull out the 9-8 win.

Former Caldwell County standout Cody Holub, who plays his college baseball at Kentucky Christian University, scored the winning run for Lyon County on a wild pitch.

Trigg County’s Isaac Peca was 2-for-3 and drove in two runs for Post 68 while Livingston Central grad Dakota Lamb, who has signed with the University of the Cumberlands, was also 2-for-3.

Former Livingston Central standout and Brescia University’s Michael Barrow, the third Lyon County hurler of the contest, picked up the win on the mound. He tossed 1.2 innings, allowing one unearned run on two hits while striking out one and walking one.
