Hoptown hurlers Jackson Lyons and Valek Cisneros combined to shut out Dubois County 4-0 on two base hits Saturday night.

Cisneros struck out seven and held the Bombers hitless over the final four innings to pick up the win. He entered the game following a lengthy storm delay that saw the contest at Christian County High School ultimately shortened to seven innings.

Lyons went the first three innings on the mound for the Hoppers, allowing two base hits while striking out three and walking three.

Meanwhile, the Hoppers struck for a run in the bottom of the second inning to grab a 1-0 lead before rain and lightning halted the game.

Noah Brown scored on a wild pitch after beating out an infield single earlier in the inning to give Hoptown the early lead.

Following the delay, the Hoppers added a second run in the bottom of the fourth inning when Jojo Cruz drew a bases-loaded walk.

Hoptown made it 3-0 in the bottom of the fifth when B.J. Banyon singled to start the frame and later scored when Jake Parr grounded out to short.

The final run came in the sixth when Cruz scored on a sacrifice fly to right by Joe Sassi.

Kurt Paldino was the only Hopper with more than one base hit, going 2-for-2 in the contest.

Hoptown is now 16-14 and in third place in the Ohio Valley League South Division. The Hoppers are 8.5 games behind league front-runner Full Count but just a game in back of second-place Fulton.

Meanwhile, Dubois County is 19-11 and holds a one-game lead on Henderson in the North Division.

The Hoppers and the Bombers are scheduled to square off again on Sunday, but Dubois County will host that contest.
