The Hoptown Hoppers fell behind early on the road Sunday night and could never quite recover. Hoptown trailed Dubois County 4-0 after two innings and would go on to fall to the Bombers 6-4.

Hoptown trailed 6-2 going into the top of the ninth inning and made a last-ditch effort to try and get back in the game. Kurt Paldino walked to lead off the inning and that was followed by a double from Valek Cisneros to drive in Paldino to cut the lead to 6-3.

Alex Gonzales walked with two outs. Marco Romero singled to score Cisneros, and suddenly the score was 6-4 with runners on first and second. Jojo Cruz reached base on an error loading the bases and putting the go-ahead run on first base.

But the threat would end there as Bombers’ pitcher Carter Stamm struck out Noah Brown to end the rally and the game.

Landon Choboy led the Hoppers offense, going 2-4 with a pair of doubles. Valek Cisneros was 1-3 with two RBIs.’

Hoppers starter Grant Golomb was charged with the loss. He went four innings, giving up four runs, only one of them earned, on five hits. He struck out three while walking two.
