Landon Choboy homered, doubled, and drove in three runs to help the Hoptown Hoppers win their third in four outings with a 13-6 victory over the visiting Madisonville Miners on Thursday night.

Madisonville struck first for an early lead, but the Hoppers answered in the bottom of the second with an RBI double by Kurt Paldino and a two-run single by BJ Banyon.

Choboy hit a two-run shot to stretch the advantage to 5-2 in the third and added an RBI single in the fifth for a four-run lead.

The teams traded runs in the sixth before the Miners cut the margin to two with a pair of runs in their half of the seventh.  However, the Hoppers extinguished any hope of a comeback with six runs in the bottom of the frame, including three consecutive bases-loaded walks.  Nico Montes capped the inning with a three-run double for a comfortable 13-5 lead.

Jackson Lyons worked the first five innings on the mound to pick up the win, allowing two earned runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and a single walk.

Choboy and Montes each had three hits and three RBI and Banyon had a hit and drove in three.  Paldino hit safely twice and knocked in a run and Noah Brown and Patrick Walker each had an RBI.

Miners’ starter Ian Cragie took the loss, lasting four innings and yielding six earned runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and three walks.
