Railroaders Steam Past Hoppers 7-1 for Series Sweep (w/PHOTOS)

The Hopkinsville Hoppers saw their 2021 season end Saturday night. The Hoppers scored in their first at-bat but could plate no other runs on the night as they fell to the Fulton Railroaders 7-1.

With the win, Fulton win the best-of-three series two games to none.

After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first, Hoptown rebounded in the bottom half of the inning. A single from Jojo Cruz scored Noah Brown to even things up 1-1. But that would be the last of the offense for the Hoppers.

The Railroaders then took and secured the lead with five runs over the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings. Fulton added another insurance run in the top of the 9th to help them secure the series win.

Noah Brown led the Hoppers at the plate, going 3-3 with a run scored. Jojo Cruz added two hits and drove in Hoptown’s only run of the game.

Colby Downard started on the mound for the Hoppers and was charged with the loss. He went 4 1/3-innings, giving up three runs on five hits, striking out four while walking three.
