Hopkins County Central bounced back from a pair of losses over the weekend to bury visiting Trigg County with a five-goal first half on the way to a 7-0 triumph on Monday night.

The Wildcats, limping in without the services of four starters, found themselves trailing after only four minutes and rarely threatened the Storm goal.

Jaxon Greer scored twice inside the first twelve minutes to get the Storm on their way, with Gavin Lear adding a goal two minutes later for a 3-0 advantage.

Carson Mackey found the back of the net with nineteen minutes left in the half and Colton Browning added the fifth with less than a minute to play until halftime.

Lear was on target again with less than five minutes played after the break and Ryley Vincent rounded out the scoring with twenty-one minutes left.

Trigg goalkeeper Joseph Crawford made five saves while his Storm counterpart Trevor Weldon was only called into action once on the way to Hopkins Central’s first shutout of the season.

Both teams will be back in action on Tuesday, with the Wildcats hosting Muhlenberg County and the Storm on the road at Todd County Central.
