It’s almost time for Kentucky to open the football season but don’t forget that Kentucky coach John Calipari is not backing off recruiting. Adem Bona, a 6-10, 225-pound center who plays for Prolific Prep in California, is scheduled to visit UK August 28 but according to Tipton Edits he got a Kentucky scholarship offer Tuesday.
Bona had made it clear he was impressed with Kentucky and it was a given he was going to get a scholarship offer on his visit — which is something Calipari often does.
Kansas, Missouri, UCLA, USC, and Notre Dame are some of the other offers Bona, who will turn 19 in March, also has.
The Nigerian native moved to Turkey before coming to the U.S. at age 17 to play at Prolific Prep. He’s a five-star player ranked from No. 7 in the 2022 class by 247Sports to No. 27 by Rivals.com.
There has been speculation he might go overseas to play professionally before he was eligible for the 2023 NBA draft. However, he has not ruled out playing in college and his athleticism and energy level could add to any program.
Kentucky has one 2022 commit — Skyy Clark — and has made center Dereck Lively a priority target. Kentucky could be in need of frontcourt players if Oscar Tshiebwe, Keion Brooks, and/or Daimion Collins left for the NBA after the 2021-22 season.

Odds are Bona and Prolific Prep will be playing in both the Marshall County Hoopfest in early December and McCracken County Mustang Madness in early January in Kentucky.
