A quick start was the key for the Henderson County Lady Colonels Wednesday evening in their match at Christian County. Henderson scored twice inside the first 8 1/2-minutes of the match on their way to a 5-1 win at the Stadium of Champions.

It did not take long for the northern Lady Colonels to find the net. On their first trip down the field, Imarie Carter slid one through the hands of the Christian County keeper to give Henderson a 1-0 lead just 30 seconds into the match.

Less than eight minutes later, Kacee Butler found the net and the Henderson lead was up to 2-0.

Just as it was looking like Henderson County would make quick work of Christian County, the Lady Colonels from the south got their defense on track and began to slow down the Henderson attack.

Henderson would score once more in the first half. That came at the 26:15 mark when Nadia Gilbert found the net to give them a 3-0 lead going into the break.

Henderson then delivered a knockout blow in the opening moments of the second half, scoring two goals in just over two minutes to take a 5-0 lead. Ashton Lynam scored at 43:20 and Marley Collins scored at 45:22 to extend the lead.

Christian County finally broke into the scoring column at 70:05 when Megan Lacy found the net to cut the lead to 5-1.

Christian County finished the night even with Henderson County in terms of shots on goal, with each team ending up with seven.

Christian County falls to 1-5-2 on the season with the loss. They are set to return to action Tuesday when they take on the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers in an 8th District contest.
