Heritage Christian Academy was approved for KHSAA membership in July. The small private school has wasted no time showing they belong.

Vova West scored twice in the game’s first 15 minutes to lead the Warriors to a 3-1 win over Christian County Saturday afternoon. It was HCA’s first win over a KHSAA school.

West scored in the game’s first two minutes to stake HCA to the quick lead.  Christian County answered with an unassisted goal by Bryan Linares in the 12th minute.

However, West put HCA up 2-1 just three minutes later off a pass from Lucas West.  Vova’s goals are the ninth of the season for the Warrior senior.

Trenton Hayes added a goal off a West assist in the 25th minute in what proved to be the final goal of the match. Hayes has 10 goals this season and has nine in his last three games.

The defenses were more stout in the second half as Josh Settle only needed four saves with the Colonel defense keeping the ball out of their end of the field.

Walker Ashby made eight saves for HCA.

Christian County [0-11] will host Hopkins County Central Monday.

HCA [5-0-1] will play Assumption next weekend in Elizabethtown in a showdown of the top two teams in the Kentucky Christian Athletic Association. The winner will likely get the top seed in the KCAA State Tournament next month.
