Cathryn Brown registered a top-10 finish over the weekend at the 2021 Kentucky Golf Coaches Association All-State Championship played over the weekend in Lexington.

The Lyon County junior’s finish was one of several solid scores posted by western Kentucky golfers at the invitation-only event.

Brown shot an even-par 72 on the first day Saturday, helped by four birdies. She shot an 8-over Sunday to finish in a seventh-place tie, seven shots behind the winner Trinity Beth of Marshall County.

The KGCA All-State Championship features the top 15 teams and top 21 individuals not on those teams. Qualifying is based on All-State points accumulated during the regular season for that year.

Both Marshall County and Madisonville place two golfers in the top-20 and both schools had top-five team finishes.

McCracken County’s Madison Glisson just missed a top-10 finish as her score of 10-over par was good for an 11th place tie.

St. Mary’s Ellie Roof shot 11-over to finish in a tie for 14th place, and McCracken County’s Rachel Hagan shot 16-over to finish in a tie for 29th place.

Defending state champion Macey Brown of Apollo shot six over for the two days and tied for third place – five shots in back of first place.
