With the 2nd seed in the 5th-District volleyball tournament up for grabs Tuesday night in Wildcat Gym, Trigg County was plagued by service errors in a 3-1 loss to visiting Livingston Central.

The Lady Cardinals evened the season series with the Lady Wildcats, forging a tie for the 2nd seed that will have to be decided by a coin flip if they can’t beat Crittenden on Thursday.

Trigg County earned a 3-0 win in the teams’ first meeting this season and looked to be on their way to another with a first-set victory on Tuesday.  The Lady Wildcats led by as many as seven points on the way to a 25-20 score.

However, it was the Lady Cardinals’ turn to jump in front in the second set, leading 11-6 early on.  Trigg pulled to within three points at 12-15 after a Savannah Garnett ace, but wouldn’t get any closer in a 16-25 loss to even the match.

Livingston opened the third with an 11-1 run to put the Lady Wildcats on the ropes and maintained a double-digit advantage throughout in a 25-15 win.

Another strong start put the Lady Cardinals in control in the final set before Trigg battled back with three kills by Skye Williamson and an ace for Rossie Baker to tie it up at 14-14.

The Lady Wildcats took their first lead at 16-15, but Livingston answered with four straight points.  The set was tied four times over the rest of the way, the last at 24-24, before the Lady Cardinals took the final two points to clinch the match.

Livingston Central picks up its first district win to move to 4-10 overall.

Trigg slips to 2-17 with Russellville set to visit on Thursday.
