Kentucky quarterback Will Levis thought it would be “great to connect” with UK football fans Thursday night during his autograph signing at KSBar in Lexington starting at 6:30.

“I am really excited about it,” said Levis Sunday during his time on WLAP Sunday Morning Sports. “I love talking to anybody that wants to talk or take a picture or whatever. Don’t be shy. Come up and talk to me.”

However, the autograph signing has been postponed indefinitely

Levis can still remember growing up when he would try to get autographs if he was close to a player at a college or professional game.

“I got (linebacker) Tedy Bruschi when he was with the (New England) Patriots. I got Dustin Pedroia and Terry Francona (of the Boston Redsox),” Levis said.

If he could get an autograph today, who would it be?

“It would probably be (Tampa Bay quarterback Tom) Brady,” Levis said. “If I ever come close to him I definitely would get an autograph or picture.”

The Kentucky quarterback also now has his own merchandise line at https://levis7.com/. Fans can purchase T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats and other merchandise online as well as see information about his season at UK.

“I think the first line looks really cool,” Levis said.

He admits he got “lucky” with his merchandise line because his mother owns a small apparel business and has connections to several companies.

“She was able to make the process a lot easier with the connections she had and it was cool she could be part of this,” Levis said on WLAP Sunday Morning Sports.  “I was really picky about the hats. That was hard for me to choose the right one. For the shirts, I just wanted to make sure they were comfortable.”

He does not have a name, image, and likeness deal with Levi’s jeans even though that seems like a natural for the company, especially with Levis’ talent and personality.

“When the (NIL) rules came out I tweeted at them. Hopefully, we can make it happen. It would be perfect,” he said.

His name is not pronounced the same way Levi’s jeans are.

“My name is commonly mispronounced. (Coach Mark) Stoops could not get it right the first month,” the quarterback said.

Levis knows Kentucky did not play well overall against Chattanooga in last week’s 28-23 win and knows UK must play better Saturday night at South Carolina to win.

“At the end of the day we pulled out the win but know we did not play to our standards,” Levis said. “We have got to be better to beat other teams. We still have not shown what type of team we can be. We have shown glimpses and the best is yet to come.”

Levis knows Saturday night will be a “big game” for his first SEC road game since transferring from Penn State. He says he “definitely has more pressure” on him as the starter than he ever did at Penn State when he was the backup quarterback.

“I just use that pressure as motivation and prepare to give my team the best chance at victory,” Levis said. “I have always wanted to be the guy. It’s a lot of fun but also comes with a lot of responsibility. I look forward

  1. UK has a good player under center right now in Will Levis. This young man gets it and is a leader. That said, y’all had better buckle your chinstraps good and tight boys, this game in Columbia will not be a cake walk. USC will be out to take you down. You better have some "fire in the belly" and play with some attitude. Use all your weapons. For crying out loud Coach, start C Rod.
