The Trigg County Lady Wildcats split a pair of matches Saturday during their appearance at the Colonel Showcase at the Stadium of Champions. The Lady Wildcats got past Fort Campbell 5-2 and then dropped a tough 6-4 decision to the Christian County Lady Colonels.

In their opening match, the Lady Wildcats used a strong second half performance to put away the Lady Falcons. Trigg took an early 1-0 lead when Lania Hite found the net less than four minutes into the match.

Abigail Eastes evened things up for Fort Campbell at the 19:00.

Lania Hite got loose on a run down the left-hand side and scored for the second time in the first half at 22:10 to give Trigg the lead again at 2-1.

Fort Campbell’s Anna Allen tied it up again with a goal at the 32:00 to send the two teams into the break knotted up at 2-2.

As close as the opening half was, the second half belonged to the Lady Wildcats. Olivia Noffsinger scored on a free kick at 46:00 to put Trigg County ahead for good at 3-2. Lania Hite got the hat trick with a goal two minutes later to extend the lead to 4-2. Camryn Boone sealed the win with a goal at 67:30 to reach the final score of 5-2.

The second match saw the Lady Wildcats fall behind 5-1 early in the second half and then rally to within one goal before Christian County held on to get the win.

Autumn Bell scored two goals in the first 2 ½ minutes of the match to put Christian County up 2-0. Lania Hite scored for Trigg County at the 16:00 mark to cut the lead to 2-1.

Autumn Bell’s third goal of the match at 33:15 pushed the lead out to 3-1, which would be the halftime score.

Bell scored again just seven minutes into the second half to extend the lead to 4-1. Cayleigh Clay would add a goal on a direct kick at 53:00 to seemingly put the match away at 5-1.

But back came Trigg County. Three second-half goals from Lania Hite over a 13-minute span would cut the lead to 5-4.

Christian County would seal the win with a penalty kick goal from Taylor Dunn at 73:15.

With the split of matches on the day, Trigg County goes to 6-5-1 for the season. The Lady Wildcats get back to action Monday when they return to the Stadium of Champions to take on Hopkinsville.
