Madisonville-North Hopkins used two goals in a sixty-second plan late in the first half to gain some breathing room while their defense limited the number of good looks at the net by the University Heights Academy Blazers as the Maroons picked up a 5-1 win Monday night at Givens Field. The win was the seventh in the last eight matches for the Maroons.

Madisonville got on the board just two minutes into the opening half when Zach Bryant headed in a throw from the left side to give the Maroons a 1-0 lead.

The lead would stay at one goal until the 31:00 mark when J.J. Brown took a pass and then beat UHA keeper Will Maxwell to extend the lead to 2-0. Just a minute later, the Maroons struck again when Zach Bryant found Logan Terry on a run down the middle of the field to push the lead out to 3-0.

Madisonville would add to the lead just past the midway point of the second half when Eli Redpath took the rebound of a missed shot and found the net to make it a 4-0 lead.

Connor Dill got the Blazers on the board late in the match. Dill found the net at 75:00 to cut the lead to 4-1.

The Maroons would add an insurance goal in the waning moments to get to the four goal final margin.

The win improves the Maroons to 15-3-2 on the year. UHA drops to 9-9 for the season. The Blazers hit the road Tuesday night to take on the Mayfield Cardinals.
