The Hopkinsville boys’ soccer team took the field for only the second time this season with its full first-choice lineup on Monday, and the result was a 4-0 victory over hosts Trigg County.

After starting the season with thirteen straight losses, the Tigers have now won two of three with back-to-back matches coming up against 8th-District foes Christian County and Fort Campbell.

The Tigers did most of the damage in the first half, beginning with a goal by Miguel Magana in the 16th minute.  Hoptown doubled the advantage just over a minute later when Nickolaus Klar beat Trigg goalkeeper Joseph Crawford to the bottom left corner of the goal.

Gabe Harton added the third with just under twelve minutes left until halftime.

Will Knight scored the only goal of the second half in the 50th minute to seal the victory.  Jackson Smith made six saves in goal for the Tigers’ first shutout of the season.

Trigg County will be on the road at Lyon County on Tuesday to play the remainder of a match that was postponed by lightning earlier this season.  The game will resume with 6:41 left in the first half and the Wildcats leading 2-1.
