It’s the time of the year where everyone gets to reset and start their season over at 0-0. The high school soccer playoffs get rolling across Kentucky with a limited schedule of games Sunday before a lengthy list of matches on Monday.

For the 8th District boys, things get rolling Monday evening at the Stadium of Champions. And, this year, the tournament appears to be as wide open as it as been in a long, long time.

Monday’s first semifinal will find top-seeded University Heights taking on #4 seed Christian County. In the regular-season matchup between the two teams, back on August 25, Connor Dill scored two first-half goals as UHA held off the Colonels for a 2-1 win.

The Blazers enter the postseason at 9-10 overall and 3-0 in district play. The Blazers won all three of their district matches by one goal.

Christian County starts the tournament at 0-18-1 overall and 0-3 in the 8th District. All three of the Colonels’ district losses came by one goal.

Christian County and UHA are set to play Monday evening at 5:30.

The second semifinal Monday evening will find second-seeded Hopkinsville taking on #3 seed Fort Campbell. In the regular-season meeting back on Thursday, Hoptown got two goals from Will Knight as they nipped the Falcons 3-2.

The Tigers enter the postseason at 5-13 overall, having won their last four matches on the field, and having picked up a COVID-19 forfeit, and 2-1 in district play. All of the Tigers’ district matches were decided by one goal.

Fort Campbell comes into the tournament at 4-6 overall and 1-2 in the 8th District. Three of the Falcons’ overall losses have been by just one goal and all of their district matches were decided by just one goal.

Hopkinsville and Fort Campbell are set to play Monday evening at 7:30 pm.

The 8th District boys’ championship match is set for Wednesday at 6:00 at the Stadium of Champions.
