Watching the Hopkinsville Tigers Monday night in the 8th District boys’ soccer tournament, the thought comes to mind that this team looks nothing like the team that started the 2021 soccer season at 0-13. The Tigers were dominant in all phases of their match against Fort Campbell in Monday night’s second semifinal as they grounded the Falcons 6-0 at the Stadium of Champions.

Miguel Migana had a stellar night for the Tigers. Migana, who was playing in only his sixth match of the season, scored four times to lead the Hopkinsville attack. Migana now has seven goals in six matches to lead the Tigers in scoring for the season.

Migana scored three goals in the first 27:30 of the match to stake the Tigers to a 3-0 lead. Will Knight added a goal at 33:00 to extend the Hoptown lead to 4-0 going into the halftime break.

The second half was more of the same for the Tigers. Migana scored his fourth goal of the night at 49:30 when he rocketed a shot from high on the right side to move the score out to 5-0. Hoptown would add an insurance goal at 53:30 to close out the scoring.

The win was the 5th straight on the field for the Tigers, six straight when you factor in a COVID-19 forfeit. The Tigers move to 6-13 on the year and will now face UHA in the 8th District final Wednesday night. The Blazers advanced to the title game with a 5-2 win over Christian County. UHA won the regular-season matchup between the two teams 2-1 back on September 13.

Fort Campbell sees their season come to an end at 4-7.
