The Christian County Lady Colonels have locked up the number two seed for the upcoming 8th District volleyball tournament. The Lady Colonels picked up a straight-set win over the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers Tuesday night at Tiger Gym.

The first set saw the Lady Tigers push the Lady Colonels deep into the set. Christian County would end up claiming the set 25-22 to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

The second set was all Lady Colonels. Christian County moved out to a two-to-nothing lead in the match by rolling through the second set 25-13.

Christian County would have to earn the sweep, however. Much like the opening set, Hopkinsville gave the Lady Colonels all they wanted in the third set before the Lady Colonels finally got the win 26-24 to close out the match.

Hailey Sparks had a big night for Christian County, finishing with 8 kills, 4 aces, and 12 digs. Camryn Armstrong was again a force at the net, ending the night with 6 kills and 4 blocks. Skylar Kirby added six kills and two blocks. Chantelle Haby set the table for her teammates, coming up with 22 assists in the match.

Christian County improves to 5-10 overall and 3-2 in district play.

Hopkinsville drops to 6-18 overall and finishes their district schedule at 2-4.

The Lady Tigers will be the #3 seed in the district tournament, which means the two teams will meet one more time, this one coming in the 8th District semifinals.
