Addison Whalen advanced to the second day of the KHSAA Boy’ State Golf Tournament in Bowling Green and finished in a tie for 77th place.
The Panthers senior shot a seven-over par 79 in Friday’s first round. He shot a 39 on the front nine that included one birdie and a 40 on the second round that included two birdies.
However, in Saturday’s second round, no birdies made their way to Whalen’s scorecard and he finished with a 91. Whalen’s two-day total was 26-over par.
Matthew Troutman of the Christian Academy-Louisville won the individual title at five-under-par. He was the only golfer in the field shoot in the red.
Whalen was the first golfer from Dawson Springs to advance to the state tournament since Brett Roberts in 2005.
