One of the main questions going into the girls’ 2nd Region soccer tournament is can any of the six other teams in the tournament prevent a Henderson County-Madisonville-North Hopkins clash in the championship match Thursday night. The tournament gets underway Monday night at Madisonville-North Hopkins.
Action Monday night gets underway at 5:30pm when the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers, the champions of the 8th District, take on Trigg County, the runners-up out of the 5th District. The two teams met September 27 with Trigg County coming away with a 3-1 win.
Monday night’s second quarterfinal will have the Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons, the champions of the 7th District, taking on the Webster County Lady Trojans, runners-up out of the 6th District. The two teams did not meet during the regular season.
Quarterfinal play continues Tuesday night at 5:30 when the Lyon County Lady Lyons, champions of the 5th District, take on 7th District runners-up, Hopkins County Central. The two teams met August 21, with Lyon County coming away with a 7-3 win.
The final quarterfinal round match will be Tuesday evening at 7:30. The Henderson County Lady Colonels, champions of the 6th District, will take on the 8th District runners-up, the Lady Blazers from University Heights. The Lady Colonels beat the Lady Blazers 5-0 back on September 16.
The semifinals will be played Wednesday evening at 5:30 and 7:30. The championship match is set for Thursday evening at 6:00 at Madisonville.
