Maroons Finish 12th at State Golf Tournament

Madisonville-North Hopkins improved 10 shots to the second round at the KHSAA Boys’ State Golf Tournament and finished in 12th place.

The Maroons were led by Jackson Hill, who closed out a stellar high school golf career in a tie for 26th place. Hill shot a three-over-par 75 in the first round that included two birdies as part of a one-under-par 35 on the back nine.

On Saturday, he shot a one-over-par 37 and finished with a seven-over 79.

Ben Dickerson improved eight shots in the second round and finished tied for 89th at 32-over-par. He shot a 12-over-par 84 on Saturday.

Andrew Davis tied for 95th place at 37-over-par. His best round was Saturday’s 89.

Paul Harris finished in 104th place at 42-over-par. His round of 90 on Saturday was his best round, and J.T. Witherspoon finished in 105th place at 44-over-par.

Matthew Troutman of the Christian Academy-Louisville won the individual title at five-under-par and was the only golfer to shoot in the red for the two-day event at the Bowling Green Country Club. Troutman helped his team to a one-shot team championship win over Madison Central. Greenwood finished in third place.

Jackson Hill closed out his Madisonville golf career with a tie for 26th place at the state golf tournament Saturday.
