Two weeks after Trigg County beat Hopkinsville for the first time in its program history, the Lady Tigers got their revenge and eliminated the Lady Wildcats from the region tournament with a 3-1 win.

Hopkinsville moves on to Wednesday’s semifinals where they will play host Madisonville, who handed Webster County a 10-0 loss in the second game Monday.

The first half was played in a steady rainstorm as a system moved through western Kentucky that forced the postponement of the boys’ region tournament in Hopkinsville.

Anna Hernandez got Hopkinsville on the board in the eighth minute with her 12th goal of the season.

Trigg County answered in the 22nd minute as Lania Hite scored her team-leading 28th goal.

Hopkinsville clamped down defensively in the second half, limiting Trigg County to just two shots.

The Lady Tigers broke the tie in the 59th minute when Morgan Woosley redirected an Abby Moss shot into the net.

Moss added an insurance goal with five minutes left when she rebounded a missed shot out front for her 14th goal of the season.

Trigg County’s season ends with a record of 10-7-1.

Hopkinsville is also 10-7-1 and will look to avenge a 6-0 loss to Madisonville from earlier in the season in Wednesday’s 5:30 semifinal.
