Henderson Routs Lyon 10-0 in First Round Matchup

Henderson County rolled into the semifinals of the boys’ 2nd Region soccer tournament with a 10-0 victory over Lyon County Tuesday night in first-round action.

The Colonels, now 15-3-4, will face Madisonville-North Hopkins (18-3-2) in Wednesday’s 6:00 semifinals at the Stadium of Champions in Hopkinsville.

Henderson needed just 40 minutes to put away Lyon, scoring its 10th goal in the 36th minute to end the game on the mercy rule at halftime.

Ashton Todd had three goals and an assist to lead the Colonels.

Trevor Book and Mason Workins each had two goals and an assist while Braeden Myers-Curry had a goal and four assists.

Carter Denton scored a goal and had a helper while Clemens Marte had one goal.

Elliott Pryor and Zander Wilson each had an assist for Henderson.

Colonel keeper Boone McElroy had three saves while earning the shutout in the net.

Lyon ends the season with a 2-18 mark.
