After scoring nine goals in a 17-minute stretch of its quarterfinal win over Webster County Monday, Madisonville picked up where they left off in Wednesday’s semifinal contest with Hopkinsville.

The Lady Maroons scored twice in a 34-second stretch inside the match’s first four minutes and went on to claim a 4-0 win.  Madisonville will play in Thursday’s championship match against Henderson County who shut out Hopkins County Central 6-0 in the other semifinal.

Lillie Carman scored 2:35 into the match off a feed from Camryn Lagrange for the early goal.  Just 34 seconds later, Kennedy Justice rebounded a missed shot off the post and stuck it in for the quick 2-0 lead.

Hoptown’s defense settled down, but the Lady Tigers had trouble advancing past the Lady Maroon defense to get good looks. Hoptown was outshot 11-3 in the first half and 15-8 for the game.

Madisonville scored five minutes before halftime when Lagrange scored off a Carman assist.

Carman would complete the scoring in the 57th minute, and the Lady Maroon defense would finalize its ninth shutout of the season and fourth in their last six matches.

Hopkinsville’s season ends with a record of 10-8-1. The senior class of Haley Cowherd, Anna Hernandez, Abby Moss, Grasen Givens, Vy Nguyen, and Allison Wood were a part of 34 wins ver the past four seasons.
