Caldwell County had dropped five straight volleyball matches, but a lineup change may have been just the boost the Lady Tigers needed.

Caldwell moved Mary Tays from libero to her former position as outside hitter for Tuesday’s home contest against Heritage Christian Academy of Hopkinsville. Tays responded with 17 kills, 11 digs and two aces as the Lady Tigers edged the Warriors 3-2 at the CAB gym in Princeton, outlasting HCA 16-25, 25-11, 26-24, 17-25, 15-13.

Tays had the winning kill on match point as Caldwell improved to 17-15.

Heritage Christian is now 22-5.

Besides the big night from Tays, Caldwell also got a career-high 44 set assists from Adison Sullenger, who added a kill, five digs and five aces to her stat line.

Savannah Scott tallied 11 kills while Katie Menser recorded eight kills and a block for the Lady Tigers.

Lily Hoard had five kills. Kynady Thomas had two kills and three blocks.

Claire Knoth recorded a team-high 28 digs at libero. Kyndra Winters added 11 digs while Maggy Griggs had six digs.

HCA stats were not available Tuesday night.

Caldwell will next visit Fort Campbell on Thursday while Heritage Christian Academy will host Trigg County that night.
