Lady Colonels Win Silver Medal Round at Smack Down (w/PHOTOS)

The Christian County Lady Colonels finished up the volleyball regular season Friday and Saturday taking part in the 2021 Toyota of Hopkinsville Western Kentucky Smack Down. The Lady Colonels finished the weekend 3-2, winning the Silver Medal Round of the tournament.

Christian County opened the weekend by taking on Lexington Sayre in the first match of pool play. The Lady Colonels went toe-to-toe with Sayre in the opening set before falling 25-21. Sayre then took control and rolled through the second set 25-9 to finish out the match.

The Lady Colonels returned to play against Trigg County Friday night in the second match of pool play. Christian County won the opening set 25-17. The Lady Colonels then closed out the match by taking the second set 25-14.

Christian County wrapped up pool play taking on Crittenden County Saturday morning, with the winner to advance to move on to the Gold Medal Round. The Lady Rockets would end up winning the match and sending the Lady Colonels into the Silver Medal Round.

In the semifinal of the Silver Medal Round, the Lady Colonels were matched up against the McLean County Lady Cougars. Christian County would end up taking down the Lady Cougars for the second time in three days.

The win moved Christian County into the championship match of the Silver Medal Round, where they would face crosstown rival Hopkinsville. The Lady Colonels took the opening set in a tight battle, winning 25-23. Christian County would finish out the two-set sweep by winning the second set 25-19.

Christian County will open 8th District play Tuesday evening at 6:30 when they take on Hopkinsville at Colonel Gym.
