Trigg County Finishes 4th in Silver Medal Round at Smack Down (w/PHOTOS)

The Trigg County Lady Wildcats wrapped up the 2021 volleyball regular season by taking part in the Toyota of Hopkinsville Western Kentucky Smack Down. The Lady Wildcats would wrap up their weekend with a 4th place finish in the Silver Medal Round.

The Lady Wildcats began their weekend taking on 5th District rival Crittenden County. The Lady Rockets opened the match by taking the first set 25-15. Crittenden County would then complete the two-set sweep by beating the Lady Wildcats 25-13 in the second set.

Trigg County finished up Friday night with a match against Christian County. The Lady Colonels took the first set 25-17. Christian County would then finish out the match by winning the second set 25-14.

Trigg County returned to action Saturday morning to finish out pool play against Lexington Sayre. Sayre would lock up their place in the Gold Medal Round by sweeping the Lady Wildcats.

With the pool play finished, Trigg County moved into the Silver Medal Round at Hopkinsville High School. Trigg County was paired up against Hopkinsville in a semifinal match. Hopkinsville took the opening set 25-19, but then the Lady Wildcats returned the favor in the second set to even the match at one set each. Hoptown would take control early in the third set and take the set 15-8 to close out the match two sets to one.

Trigg County then took on McLean County in the 3rd place match of the Silver Medal Round. The Lady Cougars took the opening set in a tough battle 25-21. McLean County would then close out the match by rolling through the second set 25-10 to close out the match two sets to none.

Trigg County will open district tournament play Tuesday evening at 5:30pm taking on Livingston Central in Wildcat Gym.
