Lady Blazers Looking to Make It Four in a Row in 8th District

The University Heights Academy Lady Blazers will be looking for their 4th straight championship as the 8th District volleyball tournament gets underway this week. The tournament gets started Tuesday evening at Christian County High School.

The opening match Tuesday will find the defending champion Lady Blazers taking on Fort Campbell. The Lady Falcons, who did play part of a season last year, were not able to play in the 2020 8th District tournament, due to COVID protocols.

The two teams met twice this season. UHA won in four sets back on September 7th, winning 25-14, 25-21, 15-25, and 25-23. The Lady Blazers would then sweep the Lady Falcons nine days later at Fort Campbell, 25-14, 25-23, and 25-16. The match is set for 5:30pm Tuesday evening.

The second semifinal match Tuesday will have the #2 seed Christian County taking on Hopkinsville. The two teams met twice during the regular season, with Christian County sweeping their way to victory both times. On September 7, the Lady Colonels picked up a 25-22, 25-16, and 25-17 win. The two would hook up again October 5, with Christian County winning 25-22, 25-13, and 26-24. Christian County and Hoptown will get started about 20 minutes following the conclusion of the UHA-Fort Campbell match.

The 8th District championship match is set to take place Thursday evening at 6:00 at Christian County High School.
