Kentucky was just running its offense on final scoring drive

Kentucky got criticism from some because it called timeout with seven seconds to play at Georgia and scored a touchdown with four seconds left in the 30-13 loss to the No. 1 Bulldogs. Georgia coach Kirby Smart did not complain and kept his No. 1 defense — which had allowed just two touchdowns in the first six games — on the field during UK’s 22-play scoring drive to end the game.

Kentucky recruiting coordinator/tight ends coach Vince Marrow was not quite sure what all the negative buzz was about.

“We were just running our offense,” Marrow said. “Georgia still had its No. 1 defense in there.”

“We were just doing our operation. I don’t know what the big deal was (with the criticism). We were running and passing.”

If Kentucky could have scored earlier, it certainly would have.

“If we had scored with a minute to play, we probably would have kicked an onside kick,” Marrow said. “That’t the way we play. We don’t quit. I just felt like we were running our offense until we scored like we try to do every drive.”

  1. Really????? A complaint about playing the game. You play your best until the horn sounds. How about UGA keeping their best D out there to keep us from scoring??

  2. Score every chance you get for 60 min UK. I am glad they scored! It ticked Georgia off, and I enjoyed it! Georgia didn’t show any mercy on UK, they just did their job. I am living for the day when UK football stomps the guts out of Georgia, like the 77 team did between the hedges! That team was a bunch of killers. That said, I am running out of years.

  3. Any team that does not try to score when behind is nothing but a bunch of quitters, besides that, the complainers should have taken the points. A big portion of the national sportswriters picked Georgia to cover the spread.
