The University Heights Academy Lady Blazers took the first steps towards a fourth straight 8th District volleyball championship Tuesday night. The Lady Blazers advanced to Thursday night’s district championship contest by rolling past Fort Campbell in straight sets.

Leading 6-4 in the first set, UHA went on a 6-1 run to take a 12-5 lead and control of the set. The Lady Blazers would cruise on out to win the set 25-12 to go up one set to none.

The second set was more of the same. With the set tied at 5-5, UHA scored seven straight to go up 12-5. The Lady Blazers had another 7-0 run later in the set and went on to a 25-14 win to go up two sets to none.

The third set was almost a carbon copy of the previous two. Holding a 4-2 lead, the Lady Blazers scored seven straight points to move the lead out to 11-2. That would be a run from which the Lady Falcons could not recover, as UHA went on to win the set 25-8 to complete the sweep.

The win improves UHA to 19-13 for the year. Fort Campbell ends the season at 2-15.

The Lady Blazers move on to Thursday night’s district championship match, where they will take on Christian County. The match is set to start at 6:00pm at Christian County High School.
