The Todd County Central Lady Rebels will face a significant challenge as the 4th Region volleyball tournament gets underway Monday evening in Russellville. The Lady Rebels will square off against 14th District champion Bowling Green in the second quarterfinal round game Monday night at 8:00.

The Lady Purples enter the tournament at 29-6 and are coming off a tough four-set win over Greenwood in the 14th District championship. The Lady Purples are led by Charli Hodge, who finished the regular season with 303 kills. Lily-Kate Carver added 251 more. Bowling Green has five players who have at least 100 kills on the season.

Kaia Barnett leads the Lady Purples with 870 assists and 87 service aces during the regular season.

Bowling Green lost in straight sets to Greenwood in the 2020 4th Region championship match.

Todd County Central comes into the tournament 22-13 after losing a hard-fought four-set match to Logan County in the 13th District championship.

Despite both teams playing in the 4th Region, the Lady Purples are not a familiar foe to the Todd County Central Lady Rebels. The last meeting between the two teams was back in September 2010, when Bowling Green won 25-6, 25-10 in a tournament at Logan County. According to the KHSAA records, that is the only match played between the Lady Rebels and the Lady Purples.

The other Monday quarterfinal matchup in the 4th Region tournament has Clinton County taking on Barren County at 6pm Monday. Tuesday night sees Allen County-Scottsville taking on Greenwood at 6pm, with Logan County taking on Russell County at 8pm.

The semifinals are set for Wednesday at 6 and 8, with the championship set for 7pm Thursday at Russellville High School.
