Allison Wood’s 2nd Place Finish Paces Hoptown at Class 3A Regional

Hopkinsville’s Allison just missed out on a regional cross country championship Saturday. Wood would finish second behind Daviess County freshman Lucy Spaw in the Class 3A regional at Muhlenberg County.

Wood finished with a time of 19:18.21, which placed her just under 15 seconds behind Spaw, who finished with a time of 19:03.54. Madisonville-North Hopkins’ Joy Alexander took third with a time of 19:55.17.

In the team competition, Daviess County easily took the team title with 33 points. Graves County was second with 116 points. Marshall County was close behind in third with 118 points.

With eleven teams entered in the regional, six teams qualify for the state meet next weekend, In addition to the top three, Madisonville-North Hopkins (4th place), Hopkinsville (5th place), and Apollo (6th place) will send teams to the Class 3A state meet.

Lauren Mayes – 19th
Kaydon Coats – 40th
Evelyn Bangart – 43rd
Justice Wright – 57th
Eva Blankenberger – 65th

Individual runners to qualify for the state meet that were not on a qualifying team, were:

Hallie Mattingly – Henderson County
Kiley Palmer – Owensboro
Mallory Wilson – Muhlenberg County
MacKenzie Webb – Henderson County
Addison Edge – Owensboro
