Lilly P’Pool wants to be the Kentucky commissioner of agriculture at some point down the road. Given her lineage, experience, and smarts, don’t bet against her.

The Trigg County High School senior has a long list of accomplishments and holds more titles than a car dealership.

P’Pool serves as both the Trigg County FFA chapter president and the regional FFA president. She’s also the Trigg County DECA president and the vice-president of public relations at both the region and state levels.

Her interest in agriculture began at a young age. Her family is the seventh generation to continue the P’Pool farming legacy that dates back 200 years.

“My interest comes from the family legacy of farming. Each generation of our family has to fight to hold on to what they’ve built,” she said.

Both of her parents teach at Trigg County High School – her father Jodie is the agriculture teacher and her mother Faria teaches family and consumer science. That meant Lilly’s interest in agriculture sprouted early.

“I remember working cattle with my dad and grandpa (Tommy P’Pool) when I was eight or nine years old, and that sparked my interest,” she said.

That has led to multiple wins at the local and regional levels in both FFA and DECA.  She was recently named the District 1 Outstanding Farm Bureau Youth Contest winner and will compete for the state title in Louisville in December.

P’Pool is also a member of the Kentucky All-Star Silver Team as part of the Kentucky Youth Livestock Exhibition that promotes education through livestock judging.

She is a 3.98 GPA student and has completed or is completing ten college-level and dual credit classes.

P’Pool will seek a college degree in ag business with a minor in political science. She wants to use that knowledge and education to become the state’s commissioner of agriculture.

“I’m passionate about agriculture and want to provide a voice for the industry and use my platform to advocate for agriculture,” she said.

In her senior night comments before one of the final home matches of her Trigg County volleyball career, P’Pool mentioned her ambition for the state’s top ag post.

With her lineage and education working for her, don’t be surprised to see her celebrating on election night in the future.
