Sheena Wethington loved freshman point guard TyTy Washington’s personality.

Because the date for the Kentucky Basketball Women’s Clinic was announced a bit later than usual, Lexington’s Sheena Wethington already had made plans to be in Nashville the weekend the clinic was scheduled.

No problem.

Wethington just canceled her plans to make sure she was back in Memorial Coliseum Sunday just as she had been for the eight previous clinics. It was a decision she’s glad she made and certainly has no regrets about.

“It was so nice to be able to be back. Honestly, I didn’t even think there was going to be one this year. So it was a nice surprise to hear that it was happening,” Wethington said.

“I love this event so much because you are able to see the team in an ‘intimate’ setting. You get to see the team goof off together. See them in a practice setting and getting yelled at by Coach Cal. I refuse to miss this event!”

Wethington was especially happy that the women attending got time to interact with players. For the first time, she got a picture with every player on the team.

“Every year they seem to rush the players off, so it makes it hard to get pictures with the players and this is what the women want,” she said. “This year they weren’t running them off. The women were very happy about that.”

Wethington had no trouble picking out which player impressed her the most Sunday. It was freshman point guard TyTy Washington, the same player who has impressed coach John Calipari and everyone else on the court with his play.

“I just love his personality. Something you don’t normally get to see unless you see them in a setting like this,” Wethington said. “Jacob Toppin loves to talk and interact, too.”
