A slow start after a long bus ride was a bit too much for the Todd County Central Rebels to overcome Friday night. Green County scored on their first two possessions and then made that lead stand up as they turned back the Rebels 14-0 in Greensburg.

The Dragons took the opening kickoff then and scored on their second play from scrimmage, a 56 yard run by Blake Houchins. Kelson McKinney would score on the 2 point conversion to put Green County up 8-0.

The Dragons then came up with a turnover on Todd Central’s first possession. Zach Ferguson picked off a Gavyn Nolan pass to set up the Green County offense again. The Dragons converted the turnover when Kelson Mckinney scored on an 8-yard run to extend the lead to 14-0.

From their field and weather conditions became the story as neither team was able to get much of anything going.

For the Rebels, it was compounded as Omarion Riddick did not play after the Rebels’ second possession of the night.

The Dragon defense also disrupted the Todd Central passing game, especially in the second half when they sacked Gavyn Nolan four times.

Green County finished the game with 201 total yards to only 102 for the Rebels.

Preston Moore led the Rebel ground attack with 38 yards. Omarion Riddick had 34 yards on the ground for Todd Central, all of them coming in the first quarter. Gavyn Nolan rushed for 27 yards.

The Rebels now get ready for next week’s opening round of the Class 2A playoffs. Todd Central will host Hancock County in a #2 vs #3 matchup. The Rebels beat Hancock County 20-14 to secure a first-round home game.
